"Enabling biometric capture in a browser presents difficult technical challenges, but also significant advantages for our customers, particularly for large, broadly distributed deployments," commented
WebEnroll utilizes Aware's BioComponents, which run within a browser to collect, analyze, and submit biographic data, live scan and card-based fingerprints, facial images, and iris images. BioComponents also serve to enable the use of different models of biometric capture peripherals in the same system. BioSP runs on a server, and fulfills several key functions, including management of the configuration and distribution of the WebEnroll application, standards-based validation, formatting, and routing of enrollment submissions, and processing of search results.
